I think the confusion on this issue stems from the (not-quite-so)
ubiquitous Chilton's MGB manual. For some reason, it states to use gear
oil in the gearbox--going against every other published guide for the MGB!
That is why I only open the Chilton's manual as a last resort, and even
then treat it with a large grain of salt.
