I'm no rookie but I'm far from an expert...but I've never heard of this. I
have the batteries in my 74B in battery box's with no special venting.
Price the batteries at other suppliers though. When I needed new batteries
(dual 6 volt) a couple of years ago I found that NAPA provided the best
price and warranty.
