No ... it is a seperate piece.

The clamp is held in place, against the block, by two bolts ... a third
'pinch'
bolt locks the distributor in place.  So ... if you remove the two bolts
that
hold the clamp to the block, without disturbing the pinch bolt, then "..
the
timing will not be lost."

Hopes this helps ... let us know if this doesn't clarify things.

You will want to check the timing/dwell after you install the new
points/condensor.
