Hey Ben..
All MGB wiper stalks of that vintage moved thus. The switch mechanism and
part of the circuit is built into every MGB (you can connect a nifty set of
driving lamps to the switch!).
About the only way to confirm is to get under the car and have a look at the
rear-most section of the transmission. An OD will be a fairly beefy affair
toward the driveshift connection, you should see a single wire leading down
the left side of the tranny, disappearing into a flat housing on the
underside. That's the selenoid wire of the OD. If it's a standard tranny,
the left side of the unit will be considerably narrower in taper to the
driveshift.
