Greetings . . . .
I've been following you guys (and girls) for a couple of weeks now in
anticipation of buying a MGB GT. This would be my first MG. I've located
one that I'm interested in, and I have some questions. This car is
appealing because, according to the present powner, it was completely
restored in 1996. My intentions are to use the car as a daily driver when
Montana weather permits. I would appreciate any and all advice.
The original engine failed and was replaced in 1996 when the car was
restored. I have been unable to detemine what year the replacement
engine is. Are there engines one would wish to avoid? What
disadvantages are there to having a non-original engine in your car. I
don't consider this purchase to be an investment but a beautiful means of
transportation for me and my sons (in a few years).
The car doesn't have overdrive. How fast can you comfortably drive
these cars without overdrive? During my daily routine, overdrive is not
necessary, but if I want to take it out on the Montanabahn, will it be
uncomfortable at 65-70?
Do the seats recline in the '69 GT?
Anyone have experience with San Diego British Cars/Britannia Motors?
I live in Montana and the car is located in San Diego. I'm unable to travel
until after tax season (my wife is an accountant). Any advice on
long-distance transactions would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all of your help - Gary Davis
