I replaced the diaphragms on my '74B' with the early style. Yes, they were
taut, but that's what I wanted. The old criss-crossing straps just weren't
doing the job. Upon replacing them, I found that I was sitting higher in
the seats; a little too high. So, I took my seat foam and sliced it in
half. With the early diaphragms, there is enough support to get away with
this. Now I sit low enough in the car, and I've got better seat support. It
was kind of a pain, though, trying to cut the foam without ruining it.
