I just read an comment from one of the designers from Xerox PARC (If
you don't know, that's who Apple stole the idea for a windowing GUI
from before Microsoft stole it from Apple :) ). He was talking
about the original PARC machine, and how it had a windowing GUI, a
mouse-driven interface, and a decent text editor, and it all ran in
two megs of RAM. You couldn't even do that with Windows 3.0.
BTW, does anyone know the reason why most Mac applications are made
up of less than two dozen files, while Windows apps scatter .DLLs and
other assorted files all over the hard drive, not to mention the
several hundred files in the program directory alone? A friend of
mine has a Mac, and we were talking about the pros and cons of each
system, and that's the only question I couldn't answer.
