You sure can Jim, in fact paper grocery bags make more than adequate
gasket material. I'ts an old mechanics trick.
Basically, anything that uses a thin paper gasket, and isn't subject to
high pressure, is a candidate for grocery bags.
Stop by Winn-Dixie on the way home and grab a couple.
