Hi,

Thanks to everyone who responded to the supercharged LBC post.

The gentleman with the TR6 used an Eaton blower.

The cure for too much boost is a waste gate that releases excess manifold=

pressure. I would imagine any addition that causes an increase in engine=

output would wear out the engine faster - but I'm not sure?!?

The installation I refer to used a single HD8 SU (used on the Austin Heal=

tri carb setup for one) carb which he purchased used and fitted with a no=

stock needle (no spec offered).

This installation cost $1,500.-$1,600. complete, all done, no extras,
finito, like dinner. Everything else I see out there, cross flow heads,
cams, and other goodies seem to be just the beginning. =

The figure used in this article is 10 hp per lb of thrust and he is
registering 8lbs at max throttle. The engine is dead stock running 7.5:1=

compression pistons. Timing with an unmodified stock dizzy was set at 8d=

BTDC. =

Cost would be a factor here. By the time you purchased the head, suitabl=

inlet and exhaust manifolds and the bits that fit on the ends of these, w=
e
are talking a considerable investment. As for the results, I wonder.

The beauty of this installation is that everything was left stock. The
carbs were unbolted and the supercharger/plenum assembly bolted on with
minor routing of hoses and the like. A single 65" v belt supplies the
motive power for everything.. =

I strongly urge anybody that might be interested to pick up a copy of
British Car, Dec/Jan '98. E-mail <BritCarMag@AOL.com, URL

and no, I don't have any interest in the magazine!

Michael,
