Don't recall what year your car is, but if it's around '74, this might
be a seatbelt warning buzzer switch. They were required on cars in the
US (don't know 'bout Canada) for only a couple years before some gov't
official decided it was an irritating PIA (my '74 Midget had them). The
sensor detected the weight of a person in the seat and set off a buzzer
in the dash that would buzz until the seat belt was fastened. Trouble
is, it also buzzed when you had things like books, the dog, or groceries
on the seat too.
