Anyone have any ideas here?
These folks are members of the local MG club but are not members of this
list. If you have any ideas make sure they are included in the to/cc
lines.
How can the throttle cable failure contribute to the carbs now not
getting fuel? He says there is fuel to the carbs. So how would it run
only when filling the carb bowls?
I would suggest making sure all the vaccuum fittings to the log manifold
are still connected and nothing got broken when the cable went away. A
big air leak may cause the mixture to be way too lean to run without
drenching the intake with gas.
Make sure the timing is still right one.
I would also double check that the fuel pump is delivering fuel.

Bob,
We are members here in Savannah. We need HELP!
I was driving my car in St. Joe about 25 m.p.h. The accelerator pedal went
clear to the floor and the car died. I had to be towed in. The cable had
slipped in the cable slide. I have fixed that, but still not getting any
fuel to the combustion chamber. There is fuel to the carbs. I dismounted
them and checked the float, when you depress the float and release it, you
can blow air threw the needle value, so the floats are working. When fuel
is poured into the carb it will fire, but will only run until that fuel is
used. This has me baffled! We are desperate now, down to 1 car for the
two of us to get to work. Our son's tranny went out of his truck, so he
took our car to college in Columbia.
We would appreciate any suggestions you might have, or is there anyone else
we could e-mail or call?
Thanks for your time in reading this! Chuck and Peggy Dourty
