CB stands for contact breaker SW for switch. On a positive ground
car the CB goes to the distributor, on a negative ground car it goes to
the switch side. To test the polarity of the coil, remove a spark plug
wire and while cranking the engine hold the wire about 1/4 inch from the
block, as if you were checking for spark. Put the point of a lead pencil
between the spark plug wire and the block. There will be a flashing type
spark and it should be headed towards the block. If it heads towards the
spark plug wire then the polarity is reversed on the coil.
