That's a good point. The Pertronix will fit under the cap and just have
a little black box to worry about. But as for Crap Distributor +
Pertronix = Good Distributor, I have a bit of a problem. You still might
have wobbly bushings, stuck advance weights, tired srpings, a worn cam,
and a bad vaccuum diaphram.

I'd sure recommend a Mallory Dual-Point with Vaccuum Advance. This would
give you all new parts in a well made distributor. The dual-point system
is time proven and it is very reliable.

VB lists a Mallory DP for $241.95 (17-500)
You could tear the drive dog off your old distributor or you could buy
yourself a new one for $8.95 (0-874).

You might check some of the 2nd-teir outlets. Skip Kelsey comes to mind.

You might ask Barney Gaylord to read the model number off of his and
call Summit Racing and see if they can get you one cheaper. 800-230-3030

I'm sure the computer literate will check in that only a dorf would go
back to points-type ignition. I've only had a couple of cars dump me at
the side of the road such that they needed a tow. Both were electronic
ignition cars and both were over $300 to change the black box. I've
never had a lick of trouble with the Mallory in the C/GT. If the stilly
Triumph didn't have a mechanical tach drive off the dizzy it would have
a Mallory, too.

Dorfly yours,
