Close, Michael, and yours is a popular belief that has been passed on for
a number of years. The truth, though, according to J.P.Lister, is that it
was the colour used by the short-lived British Racing Greenhouse team,
during their few triumphant years of hybrid tearose competition. Alas,
the Boer War came along, and their efforts were redirected to the war
effort, much to the disappointment of many.
