Hi, Robert! I may be late with this response, but I installed a new top on
my '73 Midget last year, and it was surprisingly easy. I recommend using
contact cement as the adhesive. It will hold pretty well, but if you screw
up and need to reposition it, you can peel the top away from the header and
do it over. You need to mark the center of your top at the forward edge,
and mark the center of the header. This will help you get it aligned
properly. With the header latched closed, pull the top taut (line up the
center marks) and mark the front edge of the header (you can feel it
through the top material) in chalk. It might help to stick the top to the
header with contact cement temporarily while you mark it. Draw a parallel
line 1/2" back from the first line. Now you can unlatch the header and
fold it back slightly. Pull the top so that the second line matches up
with the header rail front edge, and secure the top to the header
permanently. The contact cement is strong enough to hold the top in place
while you put the seal channel and rivets back in. Good luck!
