At what point is the clutch supposed to stop slipping?

If 2,000 rpm equals 30 mph, one should be able to reasonably assume that
1,000 rpm equals 15 mph. Therefore, 3000 should equal 45 mph, not 54 mph.
Taking that a bit further, we now have a non o/d MGB taching 5,000 rpm at
75 mph, effectively making an MGB even slower than a Triumph Spitfire.....

Can we perhaps assume "Practical & Technical Tips, Part 1" is not the most
accurate of sources?
