Steve,
It's fixed and running like a sewing machine now. The problem wa=
s
a bad intake manifold gasket.
The lesson to be learned is to do a thorough job on the diagnosis=
=2E =
I did spray carb cleaner all over the spacer/insulating block and where i=
t
connects to carb and heat shield but I was rather nervous about spraying
next to the exhaust while revving the engine up. Messing about the carb
mixture just confused the issue - I had them so weak at one stage they we=
re
back-firing out the carb throats. =
All's well that ends well. It's been a real pleasure driving to
work now it's cooling off somewhat here in NC, eh what!. We've even had
some foggy and misty mornings - excellent for top-down cruising. I get t=
o
work all refreshed instead of feeling half asleep. Of course, driving ho=
me
from work is even better!
Regards, Adrian
