Not just an English accent, but a Brummie (Birmingham) one. I worked in the area for a number of years and considered myself familiar with the many local accents and dialects, till I met a friend's mother. I couldn't understand a word she said. A more recent example was the overheard question "Wy wor Bungy pook?" This translates to "Why wasn't Bungy (a football player) picked (for the team)?". PaulH. |
