Hi Mike:
Suggest you check-out and clean-up the earth lead that ties into the
tach thumb screws. Quick check is to find solid earth and use a jumper
wire with alligator clips to see if that is the problem. I think there
is a potentiometer (volume control device) inside that can be adjusted
to set correct RPM. If that doen't work its time for the old swap meet
$5 tachs.
