I have just done this, although on an MGB instead of a Sprite, but yes,
changing the entire rear end was not a big deal.  My son and I did it on
a Saturday and that included putting the disc wheel rear end back into
the donor car (although this was loosely done, to say the least!).  Be
careful with the brake lines.
