Take the cowls off and look at the operation of the cancelling gizmo
fitted to the column. It may be too far up or down the column, or not
centered. Alternatively the ends of the plastic arms that the gizmo
engages with may have worn so that half the time the arms flip off the
top of gizmo instead of locking into the angle and cancelling the
switch. I had this latter problem so built up the top of the gizmo a
little with solder.
