When I replaced my BMC a few days ago, I found that you can remove the
blanking plate from the dash, which will provide access to the space right
behind your pedal box.  If you need to, run you hose thru there to your feet.
 My '74 does the same thing, and i was able to discreetly provide this extra
source of air aimed at my feet.  Hope this helps!
