Other brake upgrades:
(1) When installing a dual master cylinder setup the two cylinders are
plumbed to diagonally paired wheels (ie one operates the RF and LR, the other
does the LF and RR). This is a safety issue, so the car will stop straight
ahead if one system fails. You may wish to pair them race car style, so one
operates the front wheels and one the rear. Then you can install a brake bias
adjuster in the line to the rear brakes to control brake lockup.
(2) The best modification you can make to cure a spongy-feeling pedal
(assuming the master and wheel cylinders are in good shape and properly bled)
would be to ditch the rubber brake hoses in favor of steel braided lines.
Much of the sponginess is caused by the hoses expanding as they are
pressurized. Places like Mini Mania make a kit for Spridgets, some
competition shop should have a ready-made kit for B's. Note: The steel lines
don't like winter road salt.
