The best part of the whole situation is this: If you don't own the original
owners manual for your '74, or fail to read it, life will be miserable. The
DPO of my '74 told me something about how I might want to get a new ignition
switch in the car. He had to wire a remote starter switch to get the thing
running, he said. As I read the manual later that week, I came across the
info about the saftey switch under the seats. I doubted that this guy would
have used the seat belts either. A check in my parts box confirmed my
beliefs: The two seat belts lie in a knot next to the pressure-sensitive
switch!
Thank you to everybody who responded to my water-pump and fender questions.
I'm still in a quagmire about the fuel pump, but it will wait until my
wisdom teeth are done healing!

*Personal Note: My girlfriend said today that she liked my hands, mainly how
they looked. Grease stained with bashed knuckles?
