Maybe the 3rd times the charm. This is the 3rd time I've e-mailed this to
mgs@autox.team.net....so hopefully it will get through....

Been lurking about the mgs list for a couple of weeks now and find the
technical wizardry amazing......but the humor is even better.

Here's my 'problem' that is not one to keep me off the road, but aggravating
nevertheless.

I have (or it has me) a 67B Roadster w/od. Rebuilt in 83 down to the frame.
No rust at the time....a little showing up now. Anyway, late last year
(about 26k on the rebuilt engine) it would cut OFF while cruising. I would
jiggle the ignition switch and it would pick right back up where it left off.
It got worse....to the point of having to put the clutch in, turn the
ignition off and restart it. So, I figure..."I'll just get me a new ignition
switch". Well, no sooner were the words out of my mouth when, restarting was
not good enough. It progressed to where nothing I could do with the switch
would make it fire.........only pulling out the choke would bring it back to
life. To further complicate this, I am running some Delco truck fuel pump
that I had to
buy on a Sunday evening just north of Spartanburg, SC when mine gave out. It
was one of those dusty, dingy, big dog barking kinda places at dusk. I
bought it, as it was all they had, got outa dodge and 'installed' it on the
side of I-85. That is when I knew I had a sports car. The fuel pump has
worked fine (with a regulator) since 1986, so there ya go for Delco Truck
Pumps.

Now it cuts off as though there is no spark, a sudden lack of power. I pull
out the choke and wham, it picks up right where it left off. No ignition
switch involved now, only choke. And yes, my dashpots have ample oil and
don't leak, so it's not as though the needles' are suddenly dropping down to
shut off fuel flow. So, your
thoughts and insights? I look forward to hearing how this might be taken
care of. And if you guys and gals do a good job.......I'll give ya my tach
problem next. OK Class........let's hear your answers.
