As a general rule, don't do any work on your car, not even a major
service, unless you intend to put in a shake-down run of at least 50
miles before hand. I used to have a neighbour who was a Superintendant
in the AA (UK motoring assistance organisation) who said that if had a
Pound (UK Sterling) for every breakdown he'd attended where the owner
said "but I've just had it serviced" he'd have two Pounds. I jest, he
said he'd be rich.
