  Can this be true?

<PaulH.

While it is most certainly true that houses in the U.S. have 110v outlets
it is also true that the supply line to the house is 220v. There are
usually 220v outlets for the stove, oven, electric dryer, etc, so it would
be a trivial exercise to install a 220v charger for your car in the
garage. This said, it still would complicate getting a charge while
on the road or when visiting a friend.
My guess is that the cars are unreasonably expensive for a car that
is not very practical in terms of speed, range, etc. It's not very
attractive, and not very exciting. The only reason to lease one
(They are not sold. No doubt to forego the controversy of the expense
when the banks of low-tech batteries need to be replaced) is to be
an early adopter of a new technology. Honda's hybrids sound much more
promising, although we won't see them in the states for quite some time.

Now, are we going to have protracted dialogs about how to put an
electric engine into an MG? I thought not.
