Hi Ray, I've got a 74 in which I recently replaced the bonnet release. You
are correct. It is on the left-hand side below the dash. It comes out near
the master cylinder and anchors to the inner fender wall.. I'd give you
better instructions, but my B is in the shop so It's not convenient to go look
at right now.

My B is in year 5 of its rebuild. I don't remember if I removed the bonnet
release handle and cable or it was the PO. IN any case I have no idea where
it
comes through the fire wall and where it is anchored.
It makes sense to be on the left side somewhere under the dash, but I can't
find any holes in the firewall in that area. It is a 74 body if that helps.
