When you turn on the pump.... whatever the last guy pumped will be in
the hose... but probably not much more than a pint or so.
On older pumps, when you shut off the pump lever, then squeezed the
handle to let the gas in the hose flow into the tank without the meter
running... that's how much of the previous gas you will get.
Unless you are only buying one or two gallons of 94, it will not make an
appreciable difference.
A tip for mid-grade users: Mid-grade gas (89 or 91 oct) is priced more
near premium than near regular (87).
At many stations, you can pump 5 gallons of 87 and 5 gallons of 93,
giving you 10 gallons of 90 octane... for less than the cost of 10 gallons
of 89 or 91.
Remember: if it doesn't PING (detonate), you have enough octane. Any
more is wasted. We sell 100 and 104 octane Sunoco unleaded race fuel, and
110 to 116 octane Sunoco leaded race fuel if you REALLY need more octane.
