Before you go to all of the trouble to paint over rubber, look for a product
called Forever Black. It is an ethylene glycol based lamp black mixture
that comes in a shoe polish type applicator. Lamp black is the actual basic
black carbon everything colored black you ever heard of is made of. I have
used the stuff on molded vinyl, plastic and rubber and when applied
correctly works great. You can buff it to a nice semi-gloss sheen. Best
of all the stuff only cost about $15.00. The container I have was bought in
1994 and the address on the label is MBa P.O. box 6603 Moraga, CA 94507.
