Hi All,
I hate to part with this one because it has served me well. I've got a 79B
that I have been parting out/restoring for the last 4 years. Shortly after
I removed the engine, I got a letter from the accursed DMV notifying me it
was time for renewal $55 + smog cert required. Knowing I wasn't going to be
driving anytime soon, I registered it non-op $10. Fast forward one year,
it's renewal time again, and the dreaded DMV again churns out another
renewal notice $55 (but no smog required). By this time, the poor MG had
suffered much under my wrenches and was but a shadow of it's former self -
but 3-5 weeks after sending in my $55 I'll be damned if it didn't have
brand new registraition sticker on the plate. The following year, smog cert
required again-so once again I registered her non-op. Finally, about 3
months ago - renewal time (no smog required!). The moral of this story is,
if you can afford to have your car sit idlely by every other year, you can
quite easily screw the bejesus out of the DMV. It would appear that they
are either overly automated, incredibly stupid, or most likely both. Don't
ask me what I really did with the stickers.
