When you check this, you want a load on the alternator.  Turn on your
heater, high beams, and windshield wipers; then measure the voltage.

Yes it should.  Those nice looking glass fuses are NOT waterproof.
Water can get in between the glass tube, and the metal end cap(s), and
corrode the fuse wire where it is soldered inside the end cap.  It
LOOKS just fine, but won't conduct much amperage.

You start getting all kinds of wierd intermittent electrical problems.

Our '73 "B" has the same open (unused) spade connector.

On the '73 "B", it's on the driver's motor motor mount assembly.  It
is an uninsulated length of silvery/greyish flex cable.
