13 teams left Hooters at Westport in St. Louis this morning. Their mission?
To find the shortest distance between 7 gas stations in Missouri and
Illinois. By now most will have passed through Abingdon, IL, and are well on
the way back to Hooters and a skill driving test after the 500 mile run.
Tomorrow at 6 am they will head west for 450 miles on spectacular roads
ideally suited to MG (and 1 TR6) driving. Barney Gaylord, David Darby and
Rick Ingram are among the competitors, Bob Allen failed to start due to
mechanical problems with his MGC. He rented a car and headed back to KC for a
trailer, he hopes to be back in St. Louis again this evening for the Natter &
Noggin at Hooters. 3 times across the state in one day must be some kind of
record?
The weather is perfect, about 65F and most are running with tops down.
