it is my understandin' that the thermostat blanking sleeve or "gutted"
thermo.'s principal of operation was that it allowed the dihydogen oxide
to stay in the head longer there by picking up more heat from the head to
be deposited in the radiator, or some kinda mojo thermodynamics.............
