Recently, a member of the Texas MG Register arranged rolling road tech
sessions at a discount for club members. I ran my B on it to check the
performance upgrades I have done. Trouble is, I have no "before"
baseline to compare. Of course, it shows horsepower at the wheels,
which is quite different from engine horsepower. I posed that question
to the dyno manufacturer, Dynojet -
http://www.terrysjag.com/jerome/main.htm - and they replied that it
really couldn't be determined given the frictional losses in the tranny
and differential. So, here's my question to the list: Has anyone else
ran their 'B on a rolling road dyno, and what were the results? I would
like to compare your performance - let me know how much, if any, your
engine differs from stock, its year, mileage since rebuild, etc. If I
obtain enough data for comparison, I will put the info on my website -
maybe it would be interesting to see what gains you can expect to see.
Interesting side note - they had results from a dyno run on a very
modified (as in twin turbo) Ferrari Testarosa that they claimed set a
record for horsepower on a street-legal automobile - 1,013 horsepower at
the wheels! They also said the owner blew the engine about two weeks
later......
