Most people start to participate in a NewsGroup as a "lurker". This
"lurking" enables a newby to "learn the ropes" of that NewsGroup.
After lurking for awhile, the newby then posts. He(she) usually asks
a well meaning question that has been answered many, many times before.
The people who do the answering put this type of question/answer in a
special file called a FAQ file (frequently asked questions). If the
moon is new, the newby is quietly referred to the faq file; HOWEVER,
if the moon is full, ANYTHING goes for a response... public
disemboweling, boiling in oil, skin flaying, psyche baring, etc.

Don't take it seriously!! Forsooth and verily: if you hang in there,
you will become one of the "old ones", and it shall become YOUR TURN
to gut bag some poor misbegotten newby in public...
