Hi werner,I'll post this to the list unless someone else wants to join
the PBC(painted bumper club)
I painted mine almost 2 years ago and they still look good,of course I
haven't hit any thing with them...YET....
First you have to get ALL amorall, wax, gunk, off the bumpers then wet sand
them smooth down to 2000 grit...Then go to PEP BOYS buy some flexible
bumper & trim adhesion promoter made by plasti-kote follow the
instructions...then apply flexible bumper primer by the same
people, follow instructions wet sanding between coats until its as smooth
as a babys butt.Next go to your local auto paint supply store and get
your paint match put into spray cans I get them for $12.50 a can 2 cans
ought to do it....Then just paint them until they look good...then wet
sand them and paint them again Then let them dry really good then wet
sand with the finest grit paper you can get using a lot of water this is
called color sanding I think, then use rubbing compound and meguirs(SP)
swirl remover then wax and you should be done and presto your B looks a
whole lot better. The total cost shouldn't be over $40 and an afternoons
work......I have a picture at www.mgcars.org.uk/pics/mgb.jpg
I also left the turn signal surrounds black I like it that way but you
could paint it if you want...Good luck and send me a picture when you
are done....PatWvcmgb77@aol.com wrote:
