MG Enthusiast for March carried an article speculating about a new MG GT
for the US market via a link with Chrysler. The car is similar to the
MGF but longer and wider and with front-wheel drive (the front-wheel
drive Rover Coupe uses the MGF VVC engine). There was also speculation
about a new Mini based on the MGF. A concept Mini Cooper, the ACV30
(Anniversary Concept Vehicle 30, shades of the RV8?) was also featured.
This car exists, and although it is not wildly dissimilar in appearance
to the Mini, it is described as being pure mid-engined MGF front and rear
subframes with a BMW-designed aluminium spaceframe chassis.
