Nope! The lighter circuit is hot all the time. You need an ignition
switched circuit that is unfused. This would be any of the white wires
behind the dash. Your best bet is to go straight to the ignition switch
harness. Put a good quality splice into the harness just before the
plug goes to the switch. Since you are adding your own wiring I would
recomend putting in a line fuse.
