Well, well, well. Just got the *Spring* edition from Vicki British and
right there on page 11 is the aluminum cross-flow cylinder head for our
beloved 4-pot 'B' motors.
$1,499.50 gets you the head with valves installed. Still has the
siamesed exhaust recommending a 2" LCB header.
Out the other side you get to buy a new manifold. Whether its SUs, a
pair of DCOEs, or a DGV its $299.95.
A couple of DCOEs will run $900 w/o air filters.
Camshaft, pushrods, and rocker will use standard 'B' stuff.
For a mere $2,700 you are on your way to having a hot 'B' motor that
proabably will be illegal in all SCCA classes where the engine would be
competitive.
You should probably get $62 of high-perf valves, a $275 Kent cam, and a
Mallory Dual Point for $210. Add another $320 for a 2" header/exhaust.
Some additional anciallaries will bring it over $4,000 real easy. And
then you still will have to bullet-proof the bottom end.
But it sure sounds like fun.
