Dan,
if you wish to pull the therostat, gut that puppy so you still have the
ring but no spring or shut off. All you want is the outer shell. That
will work effectively as a blanking plate to throw water or coolent to
the rear of the head. Without that extra push it is likely you will
overheat the rear two cylinders thus ruining the head .$$$$$ Another
option is to install the special tuning blanking sleeve, it might be
avaible through one of the mail order houses.
