>There is a pretty funny article about a guy with a Messerschmitt
>(SP?) but I need to now this word to complete my chuckles.
1. When I was a child it was the name of a story-book character who
together with his friend, Big Ears, drove around Toytown in a little
yellow car with red mudguards.
2. When I was a juvenile it was a euphemism for a condom.
3. I'd forgotten about Noddy Bikes! My understanding of the origin
of this term was that a Police Officer is always required to salute a
superior, but it was considered potentially unsafe for a mounted
officer to have to do this (e.g. removing hand from handlebar in
midst of rounding corner), so they were allowed to just nod instead.
When we were teenagers a friend of mine had the very one that was
used in the publicity brochure of the day - as evidenced by the
registration number.
4. Now it seems to be a derogatory term for something small and
insignificant. Relates to 2, I suppose.
