I am responding to you via the list only because I think this subject is
pretty serious.

Wood burning fireplaces are already outlawed in Missoula, Montana!! Can you
believe that?! (I don't know about California.) A lady was actually arrested
because "smoke" was coming out of her chimney. It turned out to be steam
from her furnace, but the police didn't bother to verify that before taking
her to jail. I read the article in the Missoula paper. (Her neighbor turned
her in!)

The same "scare" news you mention hit San Antonio last night.

I get angrier and angrier with this "nonsense." Our lives seem to be getting
legislated away, bit by bit, and most people just sit on their duffs and
complain about it.

It takes a bit of positive action on all our parts to stop some of the more
nonsensical regulations that are on the table. WRITE your congressmen. WRITE
your City Councils. It works! I mounted a one-person campaign here in SA,
and feel like I made some contribution to the failure of a proposed
environmental ordinance. (I had 90 signed letters to deliver to the mayor!)

I follow this list and the Firebird Classic lists. All of us are concerned
about legislation that will impact our cars and our lives.

DO something. WRITE somebody. Motivate your apathetic acquaintances to Do
something!

It's been "chip, chip, chip" for the last 20-30 years: the minority
dictating to the majority. Don't get me wrong, I am very ecological, and
constantly marvel at the wonders of nature and the world around me. I
recycle everything I can and conserve water to a fare-thee-well.

Somehow, our esteemed congress seems to ignore the fact that an erupting
volcano does more damage to the ozone layer that we could ever do. How are
they going to legislate acts of God?! I'm sure in their infinite non-wisdom,
they'll waste tax dollars trying to figure out a way to do that, too!!

(Stepping off soapbox....)

Maybe you noticed that you found one of my "hot buttons!" <g>
