Allen: 
You may have a bad battery.

You may have the connexions on the  alternator reversed ... it's fairly 
easy to do on some models.

You may be getting lousy rebuilds.

Haynes and, I believe, the Bentley manual, both give the specs on what 
the output of your alternator should be. Try using your handy multimeter 
to see if the output you're getting is what it should be. If it is not, 
it's a good bet there's something wrong with the alternator. Double 
check the specs, too, for what the alternator connectors should be for 
your year B.  They varied a lot from year to year.
