>What type of car (Mini?) was that? And what year? As well as any
>other specifics about that little red car.
It was John Cleese, Basil Fawlty, Fawlty Towers and an Austin (or
Morris) 1100 (or 1300). The next one (two) up from the Mini. Other
even bigger brothers (siblings?) being the Austin Maxi 1500,
Austin/Morris 1800 and Princess/Ambassador 2000 and 2200, this last
being a straight six. All were front-wheel drive transverse engine
(even the six). Most, if not all, had hydragas suspension, an onward
development from the hydrolastic of the later minis which replaced
rubber (British meaning) suspension. If you take a rubber (American
meaning), fill it 50/50 by volume with fluid and air, you have an
approximation of a hydrolastic/hydragas suspension unit. Hydragas
suspension units are used in the MGF.
Subject to memory.
Basil was an Hotelier and one of the weekly highlights was to see
what anagram of the Hotel name (Fawlty Towers) would appear on the
external sign. Farty Towels is the only one I can remember.
