Reminds me of the time a friend and I took a couple of engines (MGB and
Chevy 350) to Patterson Cylinder (NJ) for tanking and general rework.
At my friend's request, I called them up afterwards to ask for a
specific honing stone or pattern or something for the rings he was
using, at which point I was told told to take our engines home - that
they didn't need to be told how to do their job. Very aggravating.

You may recall my recent story of tight valve guides after a valve job.
Well. I just walked into the same shop with another head and was
aranging
for a no-lead head job. All was going well until I reminded them of the
tight guides on the last job and would they be careful this time around?
At that point I was invited to take my work somewhere else. I believe
the
axact words were, "We don't want you to be unhappy again, so I think
we'll
pass on this one", whereupon they flat refused to take the job. Do you
suppose they know that they can't do a good job? FWIW, it was Downers
Grove
Auto Parts, Downers Grove, Illinois.
