"Viscosity is truly a measure of the physical ability of a fluid to maintain
lubrication under specified conditions of operating speed, temperature, and
pressure." - Theory and Practice of Lubrication for Engineers ( D.D. Fuller)

The dashpot(in the top of SU carbs) oil has a viscosity which causes
dampening. The oil in the engine has viscosity which aids lubrication. One
can use engine oil in the dashpot(carb). Marvel Mystery oil is a very high
quality oil meaning that its viscosity doesn't break down so rapidly with
temperature. It has been used for years as a engine oil additive, gasoline
additive, and I would think that it is pretty good in the SU carbs.
Probably some of the new blends that tend to have a constant viscosity with
temperature might be better.

(Discussing oil viscosity is not very exciting but it beats cats!)

(I don't beat cats!! I mean the oil subject is better than the cat subject.)
