Thanks to all for the cherry welcome, I feel right at home.
Heres my 2 cents on some topics.
MGA oil starvation: In college we used to run our cars really hard, and on
cornering, and hard braking we would see the oil pressure drop. Sometimes
accompianed by a nasty noise. The solution at first was more oil, but that
causes other problems. The oil level would than be so high that the crank
would "whip" the oil and make it frothy on hard cornering and breaking. The
real solution was a simply oil baffle in the sump. Worked great, happy oil
from than on. Thats my best guess.
Jammed started motor: Yes they jam, yes it can be fixed. Take it to a
rebuild house, or buy a new one. My buddy'y 68 MG midget had that problem
alot. We attempted to take it apart once and clean it. The oil around the
shaft was hard as a rock. But cleaning it off only made it better, not
perfect. We think the shaft may have been bent too.
Hope this stuff helps.
