My machine shop prefers to thread ALL oil galley holes, and put in a threaded allen head screw with some loctite. Then it is easier to get them out again, if needed. But as you see, it gets confusing at the time of the next rebuild. As far as the soft plug is concerned, if you use the proper size plug, it will hold well above any maximum rated oil pressure.
