Anders Clausager in "Original MGB" doesn't list an 18V/886. He does
list 18V-884-AE-L, engine numbers 101-10425, car numbers
410001-523002, Jun 76-Oct 80. This translates to single carburettor,
emission control, low compression, USA (not California) with
overdrive.
The only 18V-nnn-AE-L prefix that had engine numbers as high as 16491
is 883 (they go up to 50984). These were identical to the 884 series
except they did not have overdrive.
Hope this helps.
